Technique & Philosophy

Why We Build On Foundation

By Coach DungFebruary 10, 2026

In modern Jiu Jitsu, it is very easy to get distracted by flashy Instagram techniques, flying submissions, and complicated lapel guards. But when under pressure in a real roll, those complex moves are usually the first things to fail.

At C88 x DP, we believe true mastery comes from an unbreakable foundation. Your posture, your frames, your base—these are the tools that will save you when you are exhausted.

If you build a strong foundation, you can layer any advanced technique on top of it. If you build your game on tricks, it will crumble against a fundamentally sound opponent. Drill the basics until they become instinct.

Gym Culture

Leave Your Ego Behind

By Coach TrungJanuary 22, 2026

A healthy gym is built on trust. Your training partners are trusting you with their bodies. If you roll just to feed your ego rather than to learn, you will quickly find yourself with no one to train with.

Tapping out is not a failure; it is data. It means you found a hole in your technique, and now you can fix it. When you step onto the mats, remember that we are all on the same team, trying to get better together.

Training

Your First Tournament

By Coach VinhDecember 05, 2025

Stepping onto the competition mats for the first time is terrifying. Your grip strength disappears, your heart rate spikes, and you forget your favorite sweeps. Here is how we prepare our athletes to deal with that adrenaline dump.

First, trust your training. You have done these movements a hundred times. Second, breathe. Control your breathing, and you control your mind. Finally, remember that winning or losing your first local tournament does not define your Jiu Jitsu journey—it is just a snapshot of where you are today.
